EU-OEA
The European Ocean Energy Association (EU-OEA) is the official
trade association for marine energy in Europe. Our Head of
Commercial Development, Dr Sian George, was elected President of
the organisation in November and took up the position in January
this year.
The European Commission established the European Ocean Energy
Association in 2006 to provide a unified voice for the marine
energy industry and to assist the Commission with marine energy
policy development.
Headquartered in Brussels, the EU-OEA offers a coordinated
approach to networking, lobbying and policy development at the
heart of the European Union. The EU-OEA is currently working
closely with the European Commission to ensure the right funding
and support mechanisms are in place to accelerate growth in the
marine energy sector and ensure the industry reaches its full
potential.
As well as being actively involved in a number of European
Commission projects, the European Ocean Energy Association hosts
conferences, workshops and site visits, providing members and
legislators with the opportunity to monitor commercial
developments, assess emerging technologies and make new business
contacts.
I was delighted to be elected President of the EU-OEA and am pleased to see the rapid growth of the organisation in recent months. The EU-OEA's membership growth shows that increasingly Europe's leading players recognise the need to raise the profile of the marine energy sector in Brussels.
Dr Sian George, President
European Ocean Energy Association
