Technology Strategy Board
The Technology Strategy Board is an executive non-departmental
public body, established by the UK Government in 2007 to stimulate
technology-enabled innovation in areas which offer the greatest
scope for boosting UK growth and productivity.
The Technology Strategy Board provided early financial support
which helped us, with partners, to develop our first full-scale
Oyster wave energy converter. Our projects have continued to
be successful in its funding competitions and in July 2010 we were
awarded funding for a 30 month collaborative R&D project
between Aquamarine Power and BAE Systems.
Aquamarine Power was one of 20 companies selected by the
Technology Strategy Board to participate in the Clean and Cool
Mission to San Francisco in 2010. The Clean and Cool Mission
2010 gave some of the UK's leading clean technology companies the
opportunity to engage with top US technology businesses in Silicon
Valley.
By 2050, world energy demands will be vastly different from today, making it imperative that our growing renewable energy industry continues to develop new solutions. In marine energy, the UK’s huge resource puts us in a unique position to become a global leader. Technologies such as Aquamarine Power’s innovative Oyster wave energy converter have the potential to become an important part of the future renewable energy mix.
