Chief Executive Officer, Martin McAdam

Martin McAdam, CEOMartin McAdam joined Aquamarine Power as its Chief Executive Officer in August 2008.  Martin has spent over eight years in the renewable industry.  Prior to joining Aquamarine Power, Martin was the founder and CEO of wind power developer and operator Airtricity’s North American operations, which were purchased in 2007 by Eon for £0.75 billion.  Before joining Airtricity, Martin held a number of technical and management roles in the utility sector.  Martin holds a BE (Hons.) in Chemical Engineering, awarded in 1982 from University College Dublin and in spring 2004 completed the Advanced Management Program (AMP) at Harvard Business School. Martin is also a Chartered Engineer, a Member of the Institute of Engineers of Ireland, a Fellow of Engineers Ireland and a Fellow of the Royal Society for Arts, Manufacturers and Commerce. Martin also sits on the council of CBI Scotland.

Chief Operating Officer, Matthias Haag

Matthias Haag, COOMatthias Haag joined Aquamarine Power as Chief Operating Officer in May 2008. Formerly General Manager of Projects with Shell WindEnergy, Matthias was responsible for major wind power projects in the UK, Netherlands and USA including the Dutch 36-turbine Offshore Windpark Egmond aan Zee.  Previously, Matthias worked globally with Shell International in Oil & Gas, specialising in offshore installation and project management. As Lead Engineer and Contract Manager he was responsible for delivering the offshore pipeline network design for Sakhalin Energy in Paris. Matthias holds a diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Darmstadt University in Germany.

Chief Finance Officer, Richard Round

Richard Round Aquamarine Power's Chief Finance OfficerRichard Round will join Aquamarine Power as Chief Finance Officer in March 2010, bringing with him over 30 years of financial and operational experience in a range of quoted and private companies in the renewable, oil and gas, coal and mining sectors. Richard will join Aquamarine from Novera Energy PLC, one of the UK’s leading renewable energy generators, recently acquired by Infinis Energy. A highly experienced CFO, Richard has a proven track record in raising finance and operating in developing international markets. Richard’s previous roles include Finance Director of AIM-listed Cambrian Mining PLC and Anglo Asian Mining PLC, where he currently continues to sit on the board as a Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee.  He also spent a number of years with Aberdeen-based oilfield logistics group Consolidated Supply Management and Scottish Resources Group.  In these roles he had extensive international experience with responsibilities for operations in the USA, Canada, Australia, the former Soviet Union and Latin America.  A Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants, Richard began his career with British Coal in 1977.

Head of Commercial Development, Dr Sian George

Dr Sian George, Head of Commercial DevelopmentDr Sian George (née McGrath) has been with Aquamarine Power since its formation in 2005, initially as General Manager before being promoted to Head of Commercial Development in 2007. A highly experienced business manager, Sian has a proven track record of raising public finance and start-up technology business development. Prior to joining Aquamarine Power, she led a UN-sponsored forestry network based in Indonesia to deliver recommended sector reforms to the Indonesian government. Sian has proven experience of securing marine renewables planning and consents. Her PhD analysed the socio-economic and environmental impacts of natural resource exploitation in Scotland.  Sian sits on the Board of the European Union Ocean Energy Association (EU-OEA). She is a member of the UK Government’s marine energy steering group. Sian also co-chaired the Scottish Government's Marine Energy Group and is a member of the Forum for Renewable Energy Development in Scotland, chaired by Jim Mather, Scottish Minister for Energy. 

Human Resources Manager, Ursula O'Brien

Ursula O'Brien, HR ManagerUrsula O'Brien joined Aquamarine Power as Human Resources Manager in July 2008.  Prior to joining Aquamarine Power, Ursula was Human Resources and Business Manager at a leading educational software company.  Specialising in employee relations and change management, Ursula previously worked in HR in the National Health Service in England and Scotland.  Ursula is a Chartered member of the Institute of Personnel and Development.
