
Matthias Haag, Executive Director
Matt Haag is Aquamarine Power's Chief Operating Officer and is a
member of our Senior Management Team. Matt brings combined
experience from the renewables and the oil and gas industry.
Matt joined us from Shell WindEnergy, where he was General Manager
of Projects.
Since joining us as COO in 2008, Matt has led the set up of
teams and systems for engineering, projects, R&D, procurement,
operations, HSE and quality control. He successfully delivered the
installation of Oyster 1 and managed the progression of the
technology to Oyster 2.
Prior to joining Aquamarine Power, Matt spent 11 years working
with Shell International in a number of senior technical and
operational roles across Europe. In his previous role at Shell
WindEnergy, Matt led major wind power projects in the UK,
Netherlands and USA including the Dutch 36-turbine Offshore
Windpark Egmond aan Zee.
Previously, Matt worked globally with Shell International in the
oil and gas sector, specialising in offshore installation and
project management. He worked on a number of offshore projects in
the North Sea for Shell UK before becoming Lead Engineer and
Contract Manager delivering the offshore pipeline network design
for Sakhalin Energy (seconded by Shell).
Matt has been a Non-Executive Director of Oceanflow Energy Ltd since 2009 when
Aquamarine Power took a 10% share in the tidal energy company.
Matt holds a diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Darmstadt
University in Germany.
