Aquamarine Power takes silver!

We are over the moon to have been successfully awarded the
Silver Award standard by the Scottish Centre for Healthy Working
Lives. Since achieving our Bronze Award in
November 2009 we have gone from strength to strength and this award
is a key milestone for us in recognising the contribution everyone
within our team has made.
Developing a healthy working lives policy framework
The Healthy Working Lives Silver programme has provided us with
a framework for developing wellbeing and mental health; policy
development, supporting staff attendance, raising awareness of
mental health and actively encouraging wellbeing through healthy
eating and physical activity.
Our Environmental and Wellbeing Group harnesses innovative and
creative ideas from all departments and our offices in Edinburgh,
Orkney and Belfast and we have a culture of shared ownership of
activities and initiatives.
Looking after our wellbeing
There are plenty of interesting things we have done in the last
18 months! Lynsey and Orla head up our fortnightly walking lunch
clubs which are becoming a tradition and usually see around 20
Aquamariners out every other Friday - look out for us around
Edinburgh! I organised our Wellbeing Awareness Week with tips of
the day and an in-house complementary massage therapist to help
everyone chill out without having to go far!
We also took part in Pedal for Scotland in September 2010
raising £2200 for charity and Charlotte is our running club
organiser having rallied the troops for numerous British Heart
Foundation Runs.
Doing our bit for the environment
To contribute to the environment we have taken part in a number
of Beach Cleans in Edinburgh and one in Orkney and two of our
graduates spent time in local primary schools in Orkney. I
ensure all geographies stay healthy with fruit deliveries from
local farms while Joe ensures we achieve a balance with a rota for
Bring Cake on a Friday!
Everyone in our company works extremely hard and contributes a
massive amount, and I think this award demonstrates our commitment
to nurturing our staff and is an important tool in retaining and
attracting employees to the business.
