    EMEC

    The European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) is the first centre of its kind anywhere in the world, offering facilities to test full-scale grid-connected marine energy devices in open sea conditions. We installed our first Oyster wave energy device at EMEC in 2009. We commenced operational testing of our second-generation Oyster 800 at EMEC in 2012.

    Oyster 1, Orkney

    We installed the first 315kW Oyster wave energy device at Billia Croo off the coast of Orkney in 2009. Oyster 1 successfully demonstrated our hydroelectric wave energy concept and delivered over 6000 offshore operating hours over two winters.

    Analysis of the wave energy resource at the European Marine Energy Centre

    This paper, comparing the deepwater and nearshore wave energy resource at EMEC, was presented at the Institution of Civil Engineers Coasts, Marine Structures & Breakwaters conference in September 2009 in Edinburgh, Scotland.
