    We installed the first 315kW Oyster wave energy device at Billia Croo off the coast of Orkney in 2009. Oyster 1 successfully demonstrated our hydroelectric wave energy concept and delivered over 6000 offshore operating hours over two winters.

    Scotland's First Minister launches Oyster 1

    Scotland’s First Minister Alex Salmond MP, MSP today officially launched our first Oyster wave energy converter at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Orkney. Oyster is currently the world’s only hydro-electric wave energy device which is producing power.

    Oyster generates £1m for Orkney economy

    The installation of our Oyster wave energy device has generated over £1 million expenditure in the Orkney economy. More than 30 local companies were involved in the installation this summer at Billia Croo near Stromness, ranging from engineering and construction contractors to environmental consultancies, diving and vessel hire, events organisers and photographers.

    £10m new investment secured

    Aquamarine Power have successfully closed the first round of fundraising with £10 million from investors in the UK and Ireland. This will be used to fund the testing programme of our first full-scale Oyster wave energy prototype which is due to be grid-connected at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Orkney later this year.
